Why Silver Is the Early-Game Bottleneck

Silver is the resource players most commonly run out of first. The reason: Wiring Kit requires 1× Silver, and Wiring Kit is a direct ingredient in the Scanner, Repair Tool, System Chip, Sonic Resonator, and more. Without a Wiring Kit you cannot progress past the very first set of blueprints.

Where to Find Silver Deposits

Silver Deposits are metallic grey-white nodes with a faint sheen. Break them with your Survival Multitool — each deposit yields 5× Silver and auto-collects within 30 m.

Best Area: Anemone Hills (northwest of starting pod)

Depth: -50 m to -180 m The highest density of Silver Deposits in Early Access. Swim northwest from your lifepod until you reach the large pink anemone clusters. There are 6–8 deposits within a 200 m radius, making this the most efficient early farm.

Kelp Plateaus (east biome)

Depth: -80 m to -250 m Flat shelf covered in kelp canopy. Silver Deposits appear along the rocky ledge edges. Safer than the Shallows — fewer aggressive fauna. Look for the bright reflection off the node surface.

Mid-depth Caves (below -200 m)

Depth: -200 m to -400 m Higher concentration of Silver per area but requires the Standard Air Tank (which itself needs Silver×2) to reach safely. Worth farming once you have a Tadpole submarine.

Crashed Ship Debris Fields

Scattered Silver Deposits appear in the debris fields around wreck sites. Secondary source — prioritise Anemone Hills first.

Emergency Option: Gold → Silver at the Processor

If you cannot find Silver Deposits, use the Processor: Gold ×1 → Silver ×1 Gold is common in the Shallows (yellow metallic nodes, depth -20 m to -80 m). This conversion is a reliable backup and many players miss it entirely.

All 6 Recipes That Need Silver

Wiring Kit (Fabricator) — Silver ×1, Copper Wire ×1 The single most important use. Craft this first. Standard Air Tank (Fabricator) — Titanium ×2, Rubber ×1, Silver ×2 Doubles your underwater time to ~90 seconds. High Capacity Air Tank (Fabricator) — Titanium ×3, Rubber ×1, Silver ×3 Upgrade from Standard. ~3 minutes underwater. Ultra High Capacity Air Tank (Fabricator) — Titanium ×4, Rubber ×2, Silver ×4 End-game O₂ tank. Silver Ingot (Processor) — Silver ×3 → Silver Ingot ×1 Required for advanced recipes. Process in bulk. Hydroelectric Turbine (Habitat Builder) — Titanium ×3, Copper ×3, Silver ×3 Base power source for deep bases.

Recommended Farming Route

1. Leave your lifepod heading northwest 2. Collect every Gold Deposit you see (backup silver source) 3. Reach the Anemone Hills at -50 m to -80 m 4. Sweep the area in a grid pattern — break all 6–8 Silver Deposits 5. Return to base and immediately craft a Wiring Kit 6. Use the remaining Silver for a Standard Air Tank With 30–40 Silver collected in one run, you can craft the Wiring Kit, Standard Air Tank, and have stock left for the next tier of tools.
